Circus Circus is a small 5 table poker room located on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip. After the demise of the Westward Ho, New Frontier, and Stardust, Circus Circus is the lone casino on the west side of the Las Vegas Strip north of Treasure Island.
The main game at Circus Circus is a 3/6 Fixed Limit Texas Hold’em. This game is typically full of grinders earning their hours for the weekly freeroll. On some evenings, there is a 1/2 No Limit Texas Hold’em game with a $100-$200 buyin range.
The poker room is one of the lower end poker rooms in Las Vegas. There is little in the way of extra comfort. Like the entire Circus Circus property, the poker room shows serious wear and tear from years of use, and lack of a remodel. The standard cocktail service is provided, and the poker room uses automatic shufflers. That is about all for amenities offered by the poker room at Circus Circus. It’s a popular place to stay for students and other people who want to stay on the Strip with a tight budget, as Circus Circus offers some of the cheapest room rates in the whole of Vegas.
Poker Comps
Players receive $1 an hour in food comps. Food vouchers must be requested from the poker manager’s desk. Players that give four hours worth of action to Circus Circus can receive a discount off of their hotel room. This discount is equivalent to the casino rate, which is 20% off of the published hotel rate.
Non Texas Hold’em Games Offered
Circus Circus is a Texas Hold’em only poker room and never spread any other games. This is due to both the small size of the room as well as a general lack of interest in non holdem games at the casino.
Circus Circus Poker Tournaments
Circus Circus offers a daily No Limit Texas Hold’em tournament at 2pm. The entry fee is $34+$11. The tournament typically gets around two tables.
Waitlists
Players can call to get on the waitlist. Circus Circus does not use any type of automated system for their waitlists, so there is no way to know what games are running without calling or showing up in person.
Smoke and Noise Level
The poker room is surrounded by three walls, and is relatively smoke free. Players must walk well outside of the poker room in order to smoke. The noise level is acceptable at most times.
Rake and Jackpot Drop
Circus Circus rakes a maximum of four dollars per pot raked at ten percent. There is also a $2 jackpot drop. The first dollar is dropped when the pot reaches $10, while the second dollar is dropped at $50. This money goes towards the weekly $3000 freeroll. Players that are logged in for 15 hours during the week at cash games qualify for the jackpot. Players earn time and a half between 3pm and 8pm. Double time is earned between 2am and 6am. The final table chops $2900, with 11th receiving $50. The first player knocked out of the tournament also receives $50.
On Sundays between 8:30am and 11:30am, as well as on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9am-1pm, the high hand from each hour wins $75. The high hand must be a flush or higher, and players must use both hole cards. Any unclaimed prize carries over into the next hour.
Getting to the Poker Room from Inside Circus Circus
It is easy for players that arrive through the front door to find the Circus Circus Poker Room. The poker room is the first thing that you see on the left when you come in the main entrance. If walking over from “Slot of Fun”, make a right, and the poker room will be on your left. Those who self park will have quite a hike to make to find the poker room. Follow the corridor from the back hallway until you reach the table games pit. Make a right and go around the carousel slots. Once you have gone to the other side of the midway area, the poker room will be on the right.
