Boulder Station is the largest casino and poker room on the Boulder Strip. The Boulder Strip is located southeast of Downtown Las Vegas on Boulder Highway, which becomes Fremont Street closer to downtown. The Boulder Station Poker Room is one of only two smoking poker rooms left in Las Vegas, if not the country. Arizona Charlie’s Decatur is the other one.
The 10 table poker room specializes in four games. The game that Boulder Station is known for is their 4/8 Omaha hi game. While it sounds like a friendly low limit game, it is actually a game that has more action than most 8/16 games. It is not uncommon to have an average 75% flop percent in this game, with stacks over $1000 at the table. Other games include a 1/2 No Limit Texas Hold’em game with a $50-$300 buyin range, as well as a 2/4 and 4/8 Texas Hold’em dealt as fixed limit.
Boulder Station offers little in the way of extra amenities. Players may order call and well drinks, as well as beer and wine. All tables have automatic shufflers, and the seats are comfortable. The tables are worn though, and there is a cigarette burn on some of the chairs and felt. Bathrooms are nearby, and the sports book is only a short walk away.
Those worried about waiting around may call to get on waitlists. Like all Station Casino poker rooms, the games are also displayed on the Bravo Poker app.
Comps
Players receive $1 an hour in comps on their Boarding Pass card. Players do not receive tier points though. Comps may be used for food or hotel. There is no poker rate for the hotel.
Smoke – Bound to Be a Problem for Some
The poker room is walled in, so that helps with noise. The problem is that it is a smoking poker room. The smoke gets trapped by the walls. Even though smoking is allowed at only four tables, many non smokers will have problems playing in the Boulder Station Poker Room.
Non Hold’em Games Offered
The 4/8 Omaha hi game is what Boulder Station is famous for. Outside of that game, there are no games besides Texas Hold’em.
Boulder Station Poker Tournaments
Boulder Station does not have poker tournaments. All games are cash games.
Rake and Jackpot Drop
Boulder Station participates in the citywide bad beat jackpot. When a player loses four of a kind 8’s or better using a pocket pair, the citywide bad beat jackpot is hit. The jackpot resets at $50,000, but can run as high as $200,000. When the bad beat jackpot is hit at one property, all players playing a similar game get paid table share. There is also a Boulder Station specific bad beat jackpot where a player must lose only aces full of tens when using both hole cards. The Omaha jackpot is hit when a player loses four jacks or better.
Location
The best place to park for the Boulder Station Poker Room is the east entrance. When entering from this parking lot, the poker room is immediately on the left. Players that enter from the parking deck should make a left upon entering the property. When reaching the cage, make a right, then continue past the sports book and Burger King. The poker room is just past the restaurant on the left.
